Som Tum / Thai Papaya Salad Recipe. In a large som tum mortar, place garlic, green beans, dried shrimp, peanuts and chillies. Use a wooden pestle to bruise ingredients.

Ingredients of Som Tum / Thai Papaya Salad

  1. Take 1/2 cup of green papaya,thinny sliced.
  2. It’s 2 of chilli (said 2 minimum,add more if you like spicy..mine about 10 up).
  3. Make ready 2 clove of garlic.
  4. Take 1/2 tsp of palm sugar or regular sugar is fine,add 1 tsp if want more sweet.
  5. You need 1 of tomato,sliced.
  6. Prepare 1 of juice from fresh lime.
  7. Take 1 of yard long bean,cut.
  8. Make ready 1/2 tbsp of fish sauce.
  9. Prepare 1 of eggplant.

For som tum pbooh, omit the dried shrimp and toasted peanuts and add salted crabs instead.It is commonly understood that green papaya salad which is called som tum thai in Thailand, is actually a dish from Laos.Situated on Thailand's northern borders, Laos food influence is common in north-eastern Thailand where Som Tam Thai is a favorite dish.Green Papaya Salad - Som Tum is a perfect example of the balance of flavors in Thai food that I find to be so brilliant.

  1. Select papaya..today i choose the one still firm,but color turn to yellow..this give me sweetness,so i dont add any sugar, this portion is for my sister.
  2. Peel,thinny slice papaya.
  3. 2 chilli,2 clove of garlic,crush by pestel and mortar.
  4. Add yard long bean slicd,eggplant sliced,tomto sliced,crush.
  5. Add lime juice,sugar,fish suce,mix well,taste…add to your liking flavor inthis step.
  6. Add thinny sliced papaya,mix well and serve with some grills :).
  7. There are so many kinds of Som Tum in Thailand,named by varies special ingredients..here in this step,i will try to post more photo of different kinds of this green popular papaya salad :).

Season to taste with more fish sauce or lime juice if needed.Add green papaya and mix well.Serve with sticky rice and a sliver of cabbage, green beans and Thai basil.
