Mocha Mangsho Recipe. It is quite a popular dish among most of the Bengali crowd and is an age old recipe. Traditionally, it is cooked with potato, boiled chickpeas and coconut for the vegetarian version.

Ingredients of Mocha Mangsho

  1. Take 1 of medium size Mocha / Banana Blossom, cleaned and chopped finely.
  2. Make ready 300 of gms. mutton cubes.
  3. Prepare 1/2 cup of boiled black chana (chickpeas).
  4. You need 2-3 tbsp. of mustard oil.
  5. Prepare 1 tsp. of cumin seeds.
  6. Take 1 of " cinnamon.
  7. It’s 2-3 of green cardamoms.
  8. Prepare 4-5 of cloves.
  9. It’s 1 of onion, chopped.
  10. Take 1 tsp. of ginger-garlic paste.
  11. Take 1/2 tsp. of turmeric powder.
  12. Make ready 2-3 tsp. of red chili powder.
  13. It’s 1 tbsp. of roasted cumin-coriander powder.
  14. Make ready 1/2 tsp. of garam masala powder.
  15. You need to taste of salt.
  16. Make ready 2 of green chilies, slit.
  17. Make ready 1 tsp. of ghee.
  18. Take 1 tsp. of coriander leaves, chopped.

  1. Soak the chopped banana blossom in tamarind water for an hour. Drain and pressure cook in required quantity of water, salt and pinch of turmeric powder for 4-5 whistles. Drain the water, rinse and mash well. Keep aside..

  6. When done, add garam masala powder & ghee. Give it a stir and switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot steamed rice or chapatis..
