Ingredients of Low Fat Dal Makhani
- Make ready 1/2 cup of urad dal.
- Make ready 2 tbsp of rajma.
- Prepare 1 tsp of salt.
- Prepare 1 tbsp of ghee.
- Make ready 1 tbsp of butter.
- Prepare 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- You need 2 of green chillies (slited).
- Take 1/2 inch of cinnamon.
- Prepare 2 of cloves.
- Make ready 1 of bay leaf.
- Prepare 1 of black cardamom.
- You need 2 of green cardamoms.
- It’s 1/2 cup of onion (finely chopped).
- Make ready 1 tbsp of ginger-garlic paste.
- You need 1 tsp of chilli powder.
- You need 1 tsp of coriander powder.
- You need 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
- It’s 1 cup of tomato puree.
- You need 1/4 cup of milk.
- Make ready 1/4 cup of curd.
- Prepare 1 tsp of jaggery.
- You need 2 tbsp of chopped coriander.
Low Fat Dal Makhani instructions
- Clean, wash and soak the whole urad and rajma overnight..
- Drain and pressure cook the dal with 2 cups water and 1/2 tsp salt for 10 to 12 whistles or till the dals are overcooked..
- Once the pressure cools down to open the cooker and mash the dal, keep aside. Heat ghee in a pan and add the cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms, and bay leaf and let them splutter..
- Add the green chilies, onions and saute till the onions turn golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes away..
- Add tomato puree and sugar and cook for 5 mins or till oil separates. Add chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt and saute until it starts sticking to the bottom of the pan..
- Add curd and cook till the oil separates for around 2 mins. Add the dal and water if required and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes..
